A lot of people in the sales force are asking the same question: Why Salesforce CPQ is important? What benefit does it give to the salesperson? There are many ways of looking at sales metrics, but the truth is that CPQ has a lot to offer the salesperson. It is not only easy to use, but a great tool for tracking.
First, let us define what CPQ is.
CPQ is a reporting tool that enables salespeople to track all of their interactions with customers. It contains all of the standard features of an Excel or Lotus document such as the drop down menu for entering prices and dates and tracking hours worked. There are also tools for creating bar charts, pie charts and other advanced analysis that you can pull up in a matter of seconds.

How does CPQ help the salespeople? It allows you to manage your data much more efficiently than before. It is so much easier to get data from anywhere in the world because of the technology built into it.
This means that the salespeople can pull up data anywhere in the world at any time and there is no hassle or confusion involved. They simply pull up a web browser window and see what they need to know without having to go through the trouble of sending emails back and forth.
Another important feature is integration. With this tool, you can quickly and easily share customer information between different departments or with the sales organization. You will be able to identify sales trends and see where there is opportunity to increase your sales.
With shared data, you can also understand more about the customer so that you can create personalized messages for them. Sharing personal details such as name, address and phone number is easier with this tool than ever before.
The third reason why CPQ is so popular with salespeople is that you can save a lot of money. For one thing, you won't have to buy all those different PDF Butler software packages anymore. This in turn will save you money over time.
You can also run multiple sales reports on your computer because it integrates with Microsoft Outlook as well as other email programs. You can even export your reports to Excel to allow you to review them at a later time. If you do multiple reports, you will definitely find that CPQ is an invaluable tool.
Now, let's talk about the drawbacks.
There aren't a lot of really serious drawbacks with CPQ. In fact, the biggest drawback that I found was that it didn't quite integrate with Outlook. This meant that when I had multiple salespeople in my company, I had to pull up the Outlook window and send emails to each individual.
Although this was easily overcome by setting up permissions on the different email accounts for the salespeople, it still did take a little while to get used to. Also, because the software interface is simple, there are times when it is difficult to understand what all the buttons do.
However, these days I don't even think about using any other sales tool. I simply utilize Salesforce CPQ for all of my sales funnel activities. In fact, I still use the basic functions of the product, such as creating email campaigns, tracking results, and handling leads. And honestly, having the advanced features of CPQ is not even that important to me anymore. In fact, I often wonder why I even had to purchase these additional modules to begin with.
So if you are a small business owner, you might want to consider salesforce CPQ. I know that it is easy to set up and it has a very basic interface. But once you start using it, you will discover that it can simplify and streamline a variety of your business tasks. It truly is the best software that has been designed for salespeople!
